A festival of cycling that celebrates the beauty & hospitality of Walterboro and the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Three things of note are coming up in just a few days. Mark your calendars.

1.  Sunday is the last day to register to beat the final price increase. Prices will go up on Monday, Oct. 13.
2.  It is also the last day to register and receive your FestiVELO T-Shirt. Registrations received after the Oct. 12 will not receive the shirt. Don't miss the opportunity to rock the red carpet and be the envy of Walterboro when you sport this fashion statement around town.
3.  And, last but not least, Sunday is the last day to receive a deferral on your registration.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in just a few short weeks. To register, go to www.festivelo.org. Please send any questions to info@festivelo.org.

From time to time, we will have a rider ask about renting a bike. If that is the case for you this year, here is some useful information.

The Trek Store in Charleston and the Trek Store on Ashley River Road rent road bikes. The Trek Stores are about 45 minutes from Walterboro and not far from the Charleston Airport.

Use the below link to rent your bike and be sure to provide details about what you will need.

Please remember that FestiVELO is a multi-day ride and the routes are very often in rural areas. Ensure your bike is in good working order You should also carry spare tubes and other necessities. We will have limited mechanical services and riders should be prepared to pay for any parts used to repair your bike.

We look forward to seeing you in Walterboro, SC, November 5-9 for FestiVELO 2025.

It is hard to believe that we are just about six weeks away from FestiVELO 2025. Your FestiVELO Team is hard at work trying to ensure this year’s event is the best ever.

Whether you are a first timer or you have participated in the most unique bicycling event in the USA before, here are some things you’ll need to know as you get ready to head to the Front Porch of the Lowcountry, Walterboro, SC.

Routes – While we are still finalizing the routes, this will be one of the biggest changes this year. We will have new routes, new distances, and we have eliminated most of the alternate start locations. Once the routes are finalized, they will be posted on the FestiVELO website.

Lunch – Lunch will no longer be served on the routes. We had a lot of feedback on this on the 2024 survey. This year, lunch will be served at the end of your ride at the Farmers’ Market.

Volunteers – Chris Rice has volunteered to be our Volunteer Coordinator. Chris is no stranger to FestiVELO, serving in numerous roles over the years. We still have room for more volunteers. You can see what positions are available by going to www.festivelo.org and clicking on Volunteer. Volunteers earn $12 per hour that can be applied toward your 2026 registration. Even if you only volunteer for one event, you’ll be providing a tremendous service.

Jerseys - The deadline to order your 2025 FestiVELO jersey is coming up quickly. Don't miss out! This year, we are offering a Standard Fit, Relaxed Fit, and a women's fit, which doesn't have elastic at the waist. The jersey is made in the USA and is from Aero Tech Designs, a family-owned company in Pittsburgh, PA. You can order your jersey when you register for FestiVELO or you can add one to your existing registration. Order deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Socks – We have partnered with DeFeet again this year. You can order your socks when you register for FestiVELO or you can add one to your existing registration.

Post-ride therapy – We are happy to announce that Claibourn's Wellness will be returning to do post-ride massages, Johnny Zecopoulous from Balanced Heath Choices will be at FestiVELO Wednesday-Saturday afternoons and evenings with his leg compression sleeves, and Emily Hall will lead free post-ride yoga sessions from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Camping – There are slots available for all nights.

Themed Evening Activities – We will still have our popular Wednesday Wine Down.  Chocolate Obsession has been moved to Friday, and the Oyster Roast will be Saturday evening. We will also have Karoake on Friday evening and a DJ on Saturday evening. FestiVELO will be participating in First Thursday this year. Thursday’s dinner will be at Veterans’ Park in downtown Walterboro.

Guest Speakers – Friday evening will feature Greg Johnsman, the owner of Marsh Hen Mill on Edisto Island. Greg began milling in 2007, founding what is now known as Marsh Hen Mill. He will also have many of products on hand for purchase.

On Saturday evening, our guest speaker will be Roberta Crisler. After a 1985 car crash left her with a traumatic brain injury, Roberta had to relearn basic life skills and has cycled long distances for charity. Through the power of faith, determination, and resilience, Roberta defied all odds to rebuild her life. Her book, My Story of Hope: Life After a Serious Brain Injury is available on Amazon. She will have some available at FestiVELO.
